Strategy to Unleash Full Potential of Cameroon’s Shrimp Fishing Sector Adopted

Cameroon has officially adopted a strategy to improve the shrimp fishing sector and lessen its impact on the environment. Shrimp is Cameroon’s main sea food export product, and though it has been suspended from exporting shrimps to the European Union (EU) since January 2004, in 2021 it was able to export 880 tons to neighboring countries and Asia. A profitable chain for all its actors: industrial and artisanal fishers, processors, wholesalers, and retailers.

Cameroon Crude Oil Structural deficit Calls for Massive Importation

An authorization has been placed forth for Cameroon to import 143 kilotons of palm oil this year, 2022. The Authorization requested by the Oilseeds Refiners Association -ASROC follows from the structural deficit of crude palm oil which has been estimated at 160,000 tons. Compared to the previous years, this is up from the 130,000 that is a 30,000tons difference.
